Al Pessin and Patricia Charpentier, award-winning authors, will speak at 12 and 2 pm respectively

Learn From the Professionals
Al Pessin, foreign correspondent and award-winning author at 12:00 pm
Al will share his experiences as a foreign correspondent in the world’s hotspots. As a member of the White House and Pentagon press corps, he spent fifteen years as a foreign correspondent living in Jerusalem, Beijing, Islamabad, Hong Kong, and London, with extensive travels throughout the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Pessin was expelled from China after the Tiananmen Massacre, accused of “illegal news gathering” and “fomenting counterrevolutionary rebellion.” In the 2000s, he made numerous visits to the Iraq and Afghanistan war zones and the Guantanamo Bay detention center. He also covered early Russian incursions into Ukraine in 2015, and witnessed the Arab Spring first hand.
His real-life experiences inspired his award-winning Task Force Epsilon thriller series.
Al Pessin will speak at 12:00 noon in the General MacArthur room at the Eisenhower Recreation Center.
Patricia Charpentier, founder of "Writing Your Life" book writing program at 2:00 pm
Those individuals yearning to share their life stories with their families and others, won’t want to miss Patricia Charpentier’s talk. As the founder of “Writing Your Life”, and a frequent Enrichment Academy instructor, she has helped many Villagers accomplish what they had once thought was an impossible task. In her popular and varied presentations, she has covered topics such as: Raising the Dead: Bring Your Ancestors to Life, Get Started: Write Your Life Story, Moments to Memoir: Bring Your Story Down to Size.
Her books, such as “Eating an Elephant: Write your Life One Bite at a Time” provide valuable assistance to folks interested in learning how to tell their life stories.
