PROSE, POETRY, AND PERSONAL AFFECTS

by Larry Phillips

The author learned late in life that poetry is an art form, not unlike pottery, sculpting, and painting. So, he put aside his clay and brushes and began to dabble in the newfound art of words. This collection has been created over many years and, therefore, reflects both his broad life experience. His writings pay tribute to the 9/11 first responders, the anniversary of the “I Have a Dream” speech, his visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and more. In addition, he strolls through his old neighborhood and recounts characters who left an indelible mark on the adult he would become.
“Throughout my life, I have happened upon people and places that have touched my heart and soul; moving me to record these encounters, both pleasant and distressing. In either prose or poetry…always having a personal affect.”
