Tales of Verdant

by Doc Honour

How do you live on a world about to destroy itself? Individual lives are impacted by impending disaster, yet people can find hope and joy even in the worst situations. Fourteen stories from the four countries of the planet Verdant on the verge of global war.

Verdant Prime: Alba Castilan searches for peace in a country of totalitarian control, while trying to get a fish processing plant to work. Her search leads her to worse conflicts than she could imagine.

Rathas: In a theocracy, Fenet Powrfaith is losing the power to perform miracles, a power that challenges the Church leadership. His disciples can’t seem to learn. What will happen when it disappears?

Tileus: Lisa Westhof is a diplomat trying to stop a war knocking at her door. Her husband Chris wants to join a colony ship to a new planet. She cannot succeed in both; which will she choose?

Winter: Marta Bloom finds a friend in the strange teacher who came from Tileus teaching principles opposed to their tribal life. But her friend sparks a conflict that nearly destroys the village.

…and eleven other stories that tell a larger tale in the flow from first to last.

Includes the award-winning story “Fishing Hands,” first place Gold, 2022 Royal Palm Literary Awards.
