Strangers, Saints and Sinners

by Susan Dwyer

Catholic schoolgirl Kaylee Reagan, who is often misunderstood and bullied, tells a lie in confession to cover up a sin. While in after-school detention, she snoops and discovers old love letters. Are they the hidden secret of her teacher, Sister Killian? What, exactly, is she confessing to anyway? And why is she so angry?

Kaylee and her older sister set out to unearth the mystery and track down the author of the letters. What unfolds, is an amazing, dramatic, romantic, and often very funny story. Lives are forever changed as the characters search for their place in the world.

Set in Manhattan and its suburbs during both the Great Depression and the 1960s, Strangers, Saints and Sinners is a compelling, soul-searching story wrapped in a blanket of family sagas, and finding truth, forgiveness, and joy.

About the Author

As a youngster, Susan told stories while sitting around Girl Scout campfires, causing the campers to either scream or laugh. As middle child in a large, grand Catholic family, she enjoyed the attention that storytelling and jokes afforded her. Finally, as a young adult, she actually began to write those stories. Then her Catholic school upbringing inspired her first novel.

Susan Dwyer graduated from North Rockland H.S., Rockland Community College, SUNY Geneseo, and later earned her Master’s Degree from Nazareth College of Rochester, NY. Teaching experiences include a private college prep school, private practice in Early Intervention, and as an adjunct college professor – SUNY Geneseo.

Born in NYC, Susan spends her time between Cape Cod and Florida. She has a son, a daughter, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren.
