Kay Conner Pliszka has written numerous short stories that have been published in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series of books. She has also received state recognition for exemplary educational grants and is included in Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
Implementing a large anti-drug program with USA Today, Kay presented a book to the Governor of Wisconsin, containing four hundred student signatures promising to remain drug-free.
She was among the first recipients of the Wisconsin Bell/Ameritech Teacher Recognition Award. When asked about her many awards, Kay said she believes God had a plan for her life—that He guided her through her earlier years of strife, then led her to children who needed help from the lessons she had learned. God, she said, inspired her with the ideas she used to create programs that led to her successes as the Student Assistance Coordinator. Kay did, indeed, land upright.
