Anna Maria Venturini was an extraordinarily courageous young woman who lived an adventurous life before, during, and after World War II in northeastern Italy, specifically the Friuli-Venezia-Giulia area.
Her story is one of adventure, discovery, and ultimate peace during a time of war and resurrection in her part of the world. Follow her from youth, through the adventures of a young girl coming of age in war-torn Italy; then as she becomes entwined with the allied forces at their headquarters in Udine and Trieste.
Helping to select a location for the Aviano Air Force Base in Aviano, Italy, Anna Maria worked there for over twenty years as a secretary and interpreter, engaging with hundreds of men and women in the U.S. Air Force stationed there. Her story also illuminates the unique history of northeastern Italy and how fluid the Italian border was during the early years of Anna Maria Venturini, a fearless Italian adventurer.
