Memorable Supporting Actors and Actresses from the 1930s to 1950s

By Gary Koca

Unlike leading men and women, supporting actors and actresses HAD to know how to act.

This book is a tribute to many of the greatest supporting actors of the classic film era in Hollywood – 1930s through 1950s. Again, as in all my books, the 40+ people selected are based on my personal preference. For each of these individuals, I have included some biographical information, including how they got their start in films; my favorite films of each individual; and other interesting notes about the person. Some of the individuals in the book include Claude Rains, Walter Brennan, Thomas Mitchell, Dan Duryea, and Thelma Ritter.

As film expert Leonard Maltin recently stated, “Supporting actors and actresses have always been the backbone of Hollywood.”
