Challenges await young Edwin Turner as he arrives in Edinburgh. Armed with his looks, intelligence and keen work ethic, Edwin quickly charms the hearts of the Berridge family, particularly of Ann, the pretty, young daughter of William Berridge, a watchmaker, and his wife, Lillias.

Edwin seizes the opportunity to apprentice as a watchmaker under William’s careful directions. However, after completing his apprenticeship, Edwin’s world collapses as tragedy threatens his livelihood. A risk taker, Edwin fights to save his family and runs afoul of the Law. Faced with a seven-year sentence for transportation to Australia, how will Edwin and Ann react?

The Watchmaker offers a sharp insight into working life in Victorian Scotland and its unforgiving criminal justice system. Set in 1850,  you will be transported into another life and culture as you wander the streets of Edinburgh with Edwin and his wife, Ann.

About the Author - Christine Morris Campbell

Christine Morris Campbell was born and raised in Yorkshire, England. She is a graduate of Royal Holloway College, University of London. She, then, emigrated to marry her American husband in 1974.

She has had a varied career working as a human resources director, an ESL teacher and an event planner. Having traveled extensively throughout the world, and living extensively in Europe, she has also visited all 50 United States. In 2019, she moved to The Villages, Florida, a place which she vows will be her last move.

The Watchmaker” is Christine’s first novel.
