Dressing for dreamtime

Based on an Australian Aborigine Folktale

by J.E. Rogers

Two young lizard friends in the Outback of Australia want to ‘wear’ their best for the annual Dreamtime Celebration where all the animals come together for the ceremony honoring the Sky Above and Earth Below, and all that nature has to offer. It will be a very important event in their young lives.

Then, they have a brilliant idea of enhancing their own natural markings for ones they think are “extra special” rather than accept themselves for who they are, but it all turns a bit sour.

How do they learn to accept themselves rather than pretend they need to be different? The lizards soon discover that truth is more important, and also that forgiveness goes both ways in Dressing For Dreamtime.

REVIEWS of Dressing For Dreamtime by J. E. Rogers.

E. Rogers’ books for young readers make wonderful and insightful reads. We learn about rare and wondrous animal species through anthropomorphic characters and their adventures, and we also learn a great deal about human behavior as well.   I keep Rogers’ books close at hand for easy rereading of these fun animal stories.   – Jason J.  Reading Rogers’ Dressing for Dreamtime was a delight! Her love of Australia’s unique and quirky critters shines from every page. And the glorious illustrations take kids to the heart of her story.   Milbili, a lazy goanna artist, plus the iconic Dreamtime Ceremony, force Nintaka, a young perentie, to rethink his image. Did he really need oodles of paint to make him beautiful? A classic read for YOUR child’s bookshelf.   Her several other animal-themed Aussie picture books and mid grades are also in the must read category. Look for her Sunderland series!   – Margot Finke (Margot’s Magic) Children’s Books – Writing Guidance – Content Edits+ Secrets of Writing for Kids. https://www.margotsmagic.com/2019/11/margots-books.html
