Unbound

Breaking Free from the Chains of Childhood Abuse

by Josie Flood

In Unbound, Josie Flood writes her memoir in a raw, unflinching manner which looks into the heart of a childhood filled with abuse and turnover. From the innocence of a life on a rural New Jersey farm, to the harsh realities of the South, this powerful true story unfolds  the panorama of a life shattered by trauma and instability.

She tells of an early life where dark secrets within her family consume any happy, idyllic times of farm living. Then through a move from New Jersey to Kentucky, this memoir captures the constant shifts from one place to another, resulting in frequent relocations and the harsh realities of life.

But the author’s  resilience and fierce will to survive is apparent in the telling of her tale. Unbound reveals  Josie’s fight against abuse, the depth of legal battles and personal loss. Through all the hurt, Unbound is also a story of triumph – finding one’s voice and breaking free of silence to reclaim one’s self. It is a deeply personal account of overcoming adversity with a universal message for anyone who has faced – or is facing – a battle of their own that there is hope for a better life ahead.
